Knitting Instructions

 

Small Penny Bear Sweater

(We recommend Red Heart 4-ply yarns.)

Gauge: 5 sts=1 Inch

Using Worsted Weight Yarn and #7 needles, Cast ON 22 sts.
K1,P1, (Ribbing) for 3 Rows.
K1 row, P1 row (stockinette stitch) for 6 Rows, or until piece measures 2" (see sweater dimensions page).
If you knit more than the 6 rows, be sure to add the same number of rows on the back.

Cast ON 7sts and Knit these 7sts, and remaining stitches on needle.

At other end of the needle, Cast ON 7 sts and K2, P32, K2 to end of row.

Knit 1 Row.

K2, P32,K2. Knit 1 Row Repeat these 2 Rows 3 Times.

K2, P5, K22, P5, K2. Knit across all 36 sts. Repeat these 2 Rows.

K2, P5, K6, Cast OFF 12 sts,K4, P5, K2. (This DOES work!)

K12, Cast ON 12 sts, K12.

K2, P5, K22, P5 K2. Knit across all 36 sts. Repeat these 2 Rows.

K2, P5, K22, P5, K2.

Knit 1 Row. K2, P32, K2 Repeat these 2 Rows 3 Times.

Cast OFF 7 sts, Knit to end of row.

Cast OFF 7 sts, Purl to end of row.

On 22 sts, Knit 1row, Purl 1 row (stockinette stitch) for 5 rows.

K1, P1, (Ribbing) for 2 rows.

Bind OFF in Ribbing.
Sew together sides and underarms.

Feel free to vary the pattern with cables or other creative stitches!
